The Manresa Swimming Club’s social inclusion project for children and young people (‘No child without swimming’) is expanding to 83 participants in its fourth season thanks to support of the Guardiola Sala Foundation, with the Red Cross in the region of Bages. The program allows children and young people at high risk of vulnerability to break the barriers of exclusion and learn to swim at Club Natació Manresa (Manel Estiarte Swimming Pools).
At the presentation of this fourth season, Jordi Serracanta, president of CN Manresa, expressed his pride: “We know how to teach swimming, and we like to reach out to a group of families who unfortunately lack the resources to learn. For this, we needed a partner like the Guardiola Sala Foundation”. Representing the Foundation its president Pere Guardiola recalled that “our purpose is to help people in need through sport, and when this project was presented to us by brothers Manel and Albert Estiarte, we didn’t hesitate; it was a perfect fit”. Patrons Laura Guerra and Albert Estiarte also attended the event.
This project, which was born in 2022 led by Club Natació Manresa, Red Cross and Guardiola Sala Foundation, promotes the teaching of swimming to high-risk boys and girls. Indeed, one of the first girls to benefit from the project, Fàtima Tamnaait, is now, four years later, a volunteer instructor with the Red Cross. ‘No child without swimming’ is already producing results.
